Baitong Paperweight in the Form of a Zither 19th c.
This Baitong (copper-nickel alloy) paper weight is in the form of a Zither with 13 colored phoneme overtone dots, known as the "emblem" along one edge; seven string holes and strings engraved and colored in black. On the back, there are two Chinese characters, which read "Xu Gu" engraved. This paperweight may have belonged to the famous Qing painter and poet Xu Gu (ca.1824-1896).
